Rothschild officials report that a washed out bridge on the Cedar Creek Trail in the village has been restored, but the fix is temporary.
The bridge washes out every year, says village President George Peterson. Because the wooden bridge is on a flood plain, the material tends to float when the nearby river swells in the spring. The trail leads from River Street Park along the Wisconsin River to the Cedar Creek area, which includes the Cedar Creek Mall and the Patriot Center.
The village is working to find a more permanent solution to the bridge problem, Peterson says. The village is restricted in what it can do because of Department of Natural Resource restrictions regarding floodplains.
