Everest Metro Police say they are investigating potential misappropriation of funds from the village of Weston.
The village fired its utility clerk, Theresa Colemen, on Jan. 31 following an investigation into the missing funds by the village. Coleman had been placed on leave during an internal investigation of the missing funds, which were discovered missing Jan. 13 during a routine financial review by the village.
Everest Metro is currently investigating the situation as a potential crime. Coleman has not yet been accused of a crime as the police investigation continues.
Village leaders did not say how much was missing and or how the funds might have been stolen. City Pages will update this post if and when we learn more.
