Birds in Art artist Kris Parins shares her expertise and enthusiasm for watercolor during her four-day residency at the museum. The Wisconsin native’s paintings have been featured on the covers of several magazines, such as American Artist Watercolor and Watercolor Artist, and her art has been included in the Woodson’s annual Birds in Art several times. During her residency programs, she guides participants with hands-on painting and engages visitors through public discussions and a weekend workshop.

Art 101: Technique Demystified · Thurs. Learn about materials and processes used in Parins’ organic, fluid backdrops during a public demonstration. 5:30-7 pm.

Hands-on Art · Thurs. Drop in to paint fanciful owls on black rocks. 5:30-7 pm.

Watercolor Workshop · Sat.-Sun. Teens and adults experience watercolor mask-and-pour technique to create flowing, colorful backdrops. 10 am-4 pm. $120 members, $150 non-members. Registration required: 715-845-7010.
