Christian Schock has been named interim director of Wausau’s Community Development Department, which also oversees planning and economic development.
Longtime director Ann Werth will retire July 5 after nearly four decades with the city, in a career that spanned seven mayoral administrations and 20 city councils. Mayor Rob Mielke on Wednesday announced Schock will assume Werth’s responsibilities for a period of no more than six months.
Schock has spent the past 18 months as the city’s economic development manager. He previously worked as a regional planning commission director in Ohio. Schock will assume his new role June 20.
