Starting next summer, expect a new outlet for great outdoor music downtown.
The Wausau River District, in partnership with the River Valley Jazz Society, is planning a Jazz on the River concert series next year for the plaza behind the library. Concerts will feature jazz artists and bands, ranging from smaller ensembles to larger groups, playing Sunday evenings on the plaza behind the Marathon County Public Library. The series will run from July to August.
The Central Wisconsin Musicians Guild also has plans in the works for a temporary stage on the plaza that would accommodate the series, as well as other musical acts. River District officials are writing a grant to help fund the stage, which would benefit other musicians as well as the jazz series.
