The new multi-million Weston municipal center opened to the public today, Monday Dec. 12.
Starting today all municipal business will be handled at the new municipal center at 4747 Camp Phillips Road, according to Weston officials. Anyone who has business with the village needs to go to the new center now.
Weston built a new municipal center because the old center was old and out of date. The new center should be more efficient, municipal leaders say. The old center had poor insulation and HVAC, and cramped conditions for workers.
According to estimates on the village’s website, the new center was expected to cost $16 million. The building came in as budgeted, Village President Mark Maloney told City Pages.
The one building giving Weston leaders trouble is the new salt shed. It was estimated to cost between $300,000 and $400,000, but in reality bids are coming in at $1 million to $1.2 million.
Maloney says the village will use the old salt shed for this winter season to help save on costs.
