NO MORE TACOS? Mall looking to evict Taco John’s

Wausau Center mall is seeking an eviction and thousands in back rent against Taco John’s, according to court documents.

The eviction is part of a small claims filing made against the taco business and its owners by mall owner CBL Properties and Associates. The complaint alleges Taco John’s owes rent payments going back to September 2015, totaling $47,000, plus fees and operating costs, and an unpaid promissory note for $11,000. The complaint seeks $179,000 in total, which includes future rent.

Taco John’s had a ten-year lease with the Wausau Center mall signed in 2008, according to the filing. A judgment was entered against Taco John’s on Aug. 24 and a damages hearing will be held Oct. 4.

Taco John’s recently reopened its Weston location that was destroyed in a fire in February 2015. The business remained open in Wausau Center as of Wednesday.
