The village of Rothschild started the process to hire its first administrator.

The board this month approved creating the position and hiring a search firm that would create a job description and advertisement, and collect resumes, says Village President George Peterson.

The village has never had an administrator, but needs one because there’s too much work for the part-time president to handle, Peterson says. Right now only a retired person could realistically run for village president, because there’s so much work to do on a $7,500 yearly salary. An administrator could also better focus on economic development, something that’s important to growing the village, Peterson says.

An administrator could be in place by November or December, Peterson says. Depending on the person, the administrator would likely make between $60,000 and $80,000, he says, not including benefits.
