Farming is the cornerstone of Wisconsin, and now Wausau is home to a new family-owned farm and ranch supply store working to keep that foundation strong.
4G Family Farms, located at 3380 County Rd. WW, opened in October 2024 and offers feed and minerals for pets and livestock. Since opening, the store has served as a reliable, locally owned alternative for farmers and animal owners in the area.
Owner Jase Glaze said the building had been abandoned before his family purchased it. Demolition and renovation work were required to get it up and running.
“It was an opportunity we had, and we decided we were going to do it,” Glaze said.
Glaze saw a need in the community for a convenient, local option for feed and ranch supplies.
“For Purina stuff, you either need to go to Tractor Supply or Marathon Feed, and I think that’s such a drive,” he said. “For us and a lot of other people that are animal owners in the area, this place is convenient because it’s on the drive back home.”
One of the biggest challenges, he says, has been visibility.
“People drive by this place a million times and never realize that a new store has opened,” Glaze said. “We want to get the word out so people know we’re here.”
Glaze enjoys connecting with customers and answering questions, especially when it gives him the chance to learn something new.
“Even if there’s a question I can’t answer, I enjoy learning the answer,” he said.
Learning is a priority for Glaze, who plans to study animal science at Mitchell Technical College in South Dakota. While he’s away, family friend Aubrey Arneson will be running the store.
Looking to the future, Glaze hopes to expand the business and carry more products.
“We want to be able to serve everyone in our community better,” he said. “We’re just starting out, and as we grow, we want to offer more.”
4G Family Farms is open Mon.–Fri., from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 715-841-0050.
