'Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the town, all the people were stirring, with events abound. Here are a few highlights around Wausau this week:

  1. ‘A Christmas Carol’
    Friday 12/19 to 12/21 | James F Veninga Theater, Wausau
    This holiday season, Wausau Community Theatre presents its 18th annual production of the timeless classic, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. The tale takes place in Victorian-era England and follows hard-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghost of his late business partner, Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Scrooge’s story of redemption remains as powerful and uplifting as it ever was, making “A Christmas Carol” a time-honored family tradition. Experience the magic of this beloved holiday tale, brought to life by the talented cast and crew in a performance that promises to warm your heart and ignite your holiday spirit.   2. ‘Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Clause’ Live Radio Show
    Thursday 12/18 to 12/20 | Sentry Theater, Stevens Point
    Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater presents two compelling stories that come together in this heartwarming play inspired by the famous editorial “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.” On Christmas Eve, 1897, in New York City, eight-year-old Virginia is left pondering whether or not Santa really exists after a series of unhappy events. Meanwhile, a young newspaper editor also struggles against tough holiday times as he is faced with losing his job if he can’t find his writer’s voice by morning. Even though they don’t know each other, the spirit of Christmas is about to bring these people together, creating in the process an unforgettable and cherished part of classic Christmas folklore.   5. Dueling Pianos Holiday Special

    Kick off your Holiday activities with another incredible Dueling Pianos show on Dec. 20. There will be festive sing-alongs, specialty drinks, delicious food and an ugly sweater contest!     Catch this exhibit at the Center for the Visual Arts before its gone. Art by the Foot is an exhibition of small works under one foot in size, which is perfect for starting or building an art collection.   7. Community Christmas Dinner
    Thursday 12/25 | St Paul’s United Church of Christ, Wausau
    Enjoy a warm, traditional Christmas dinner in good company. Meal includes turkey, ham, sides and dessert. Church is located at 426 Washington St., but please use Fifth Street entrance. Starts at noon, all are welcome. Free.
