Catch a comedy play, go out to the Granite Peak sled races or build a family puzzle this week! Here are seven things to do in Wausau this week:
March 20-22 | James F. Veninga Theater, Wausau
Wausau Community Theater presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a comedy that has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box. Starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, matinee shows at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $11-$28 with child, youth and senior discounts. wausaucommunitytheatre.org

Handcrafted by the Granite Peak GM and his kids, these trophies are true masterpieces of art, symbolizing the spirit of creativity and camaraderie that defines this exciting event.
