Posted

In a press release the Milwaukee Brewers announced an extended trading card print partnership with police departments across the state, including the Wausau Police Department.

The initiative was brought back to life last season, but the tradition started about 40 years ago.

The press release stated that due to the amount of positive feedback, “a second run of the highly sought after trading card prints distributed by local law enforcement”. The program’s goal is to help police departments connect with their community through the love of baseball.

“We have received such great feedback from law enforcement as well as fans appreciating the impact the Brewers trading card print program has in the community,” said Rick Schlesinger, the Brewers president of business operations. “This tradition started more than 40 years ago, and we are so pleased to expand the program to help inspire the next generation of baseball fans.”

The second run will feature a reprint of the original comic book-inspired cards of outfielders Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio and Sal Frelick, along with catcher William Contreras and infielders Birce Turang and Joey Ortiz.

Wausau will be one of the 30 law enforcement partners to receive the trading card prints.
