This fall, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its inaugural art exhibit, Birds in Art.
For its 50th exhibition, the museum will feature artworks by 102 artists selected by a panel of jurors, including international artists representing 16 countries, and 41 previously named Master Wildlife Artists. The selections were chosen from 1,160 submissions by 703 different artists.
Opening-day festivities for the exhibit, which will be held on September 6, will include a presentation by a guest speaker; Artists in Action demonstrations; Watch, Learn and Create sessions with artists at the Glass Box Studio; and opportunities to meet visiting artists from across the globe.
In addition, the museum will have a commemorative catalog for sale featuring every artwork in full color alongside artists’ statements. Five different artwork posters, five different stickers and Birds in Art Fifty T-shirts will be available for purchase at the museum.
The exhibition will run through January 4, 2026.
