Wausau to host youth bowling championship

Posted

As the second-largest bowling center in the state of Wisconsin, Dale’s Weston Lanes will be hosting the Junior Gold Championships, a youth bowling tournament.

“Hosting Junior Gold is an incredible honor for us,” said Sarah Elliott, Dale’s Weston Lanes general manager. “This is the biggest youth bowling event in the country, and we’re thrilled to welcome the nation’s top athletes to our lanes. Our staff is ready, our lanes are ready, and we can’t wait to showcase what our community and facility have to offer on a national stage.”

This is the first time in history that the Junior Gold Championships will be held in the state of Wisconsin. The four-destination event will bring the nation’s top youth bowlers to Green Bay, Oshkosh, Fox Cities and Wausau from July 11-19.

The Junior Gold Championships are the most prestigious youth bowling tournament in the country, welcoming thousands of bowlers to compete for national titles, collegiate scholarships and spots on the Junior Team USA.

“This is a huge win for Wisconsin,” said Tim White, executive director of Visit Wausau. “Hosting Junior Gold across four destinations is not only a historic first for our state, but also a major economic and tourism driver that will showcase our communities to a national audience.”

The event will rotate qualifying rounds among the four cities, allowing bowlers and families to experience each host destination.
