Registration for the UW Extension’s much-anticipated Save a Calf, Save a Cow workshops, geared toward beef and dairy farmers and dairy workers, closes soon, with the workshops only two weeks away.
The workshops are designed to educate food producers about the calving process with the goal of minimizing cattle losses, enhancing animal care and improving long-term herd performance.
Each workshop consists of two sessions: an informational Zoom session and a hands-on in-person session. Participants must attend a Zoom session if they wish to join an in-person session.
Zoom sessions for dairy workers will be presented in English and simultaneously translated to Spanish.
The cost to participate is $20 per person.
There will be three Zoom sessions held on Sept. 17 and 18, with two sessions being held in English and one in Spanish.
Most in-person sessions will take place in Athens on Sept. 24–25, with an additional session scheduled for Altoona on Sept. 25. One of these sessions will also be offered in Spanish.
