Concert in the Clouds: Billy Bronsted

Billy Bronsted is local to Wausau, and he’s become one of the top country singers in the state. He’s got two albums to his name: 2017’s This Bed of Mine and the latter Rhythm, Racket % Romance. He’s played the stage at Mile of Music in Appleton (not an easy event to get into), played plenty of other festivals and has been featured more than once on Bard Sessions. And in the summer months, what better place to see Billy Bronsted than high atop Rib Mountain, as the late Glen Moberg used to say? Movie in the Park: Migration

Concerts on the Square are fun and all, but when you have kids, there is another great alternative - a movie in the park! This series is held throughout the summer with six total movies throughout the summer. This week’s movie is Migration, an animated movie that follows a family of mallards who attempt to convince their father on the vacation of a lifetime, migrating from New York to Jamaica with plenty of hijinks and shenanigans along the way. Architectural Amble: Athletic Park Neighborhood

Though I don’t know a lot about architecture, after City Pages moved to the old Wausau Daily Herald building, I’ve been enjoying Wednesday walks around the historic East Hill District. So I definitely appreciate architecture! For those who also love architecture, this new event series is focusing on the Athletic Park neighborhood. Come take a walk, learn all about the architecture of the neighborhood from a historical expert and have some fun. Free. Dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes. Lyle Lovett

I have to admit most of what I knew about Lyle Lovett is from David Letterman making fun of the country singer for dating and very quickly marrying Julia Roberts — and that marriage not lasting long. While his marriage might have been short-lived, his music career has been long-lasting, with 14 albums and 25 singles released to date since 1980. He’s also won four Grammys and just released his latest album in 2022. So take that, Letterman! To this day his concerts continue to delight audiences young and old. Pizza on the Orchard: Hyde

Stoney Acres isn’t the only pizza game in town. Rock Ridge Orchard’s pizza nights haven’t been around as long, and they’re a little different, but well worth checking out. The orchard, which also specializes in ciders, holds this event with buffet-style pizza and a wide outdoor space in which to eat that pizza (with a number of indoor tables too). Joining them to perform musically is Hyde, Wisconsin’s premier party band. Hyde has been rocking the stage for 16 years now, and why not enjoy a pizza and some beer while you listen? Tour 'd Briq’s

Hey, sometimes you need balance in life. For example, a really long bike ride needs to be balanced with ice cream. Right? It’s basically science. That’s the idea behind the Tour 'd Briq’s, a cycling event that has cyclists traversing between two and five Briq’s locations, eating ice cream along the way. The ride is a benefit for the Cycling Without Age program, in which cyclists called Pilots drive tri-shaw bicycles to help elderly and disabled people get the experience of bicycling without being able to ride a bike themselves. Suggested donation is $20. Registration opens at 10 am, ride starts at 11 am. Helmets required. Rain date is Sunday.
