Discover Wisconsin, the nation’s longest-running travel & tourism TV series, has released the official trailer for its highly anticipated presentation “The 50-Year Mystery of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” The full production is set to premiere on November 10, 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the legendary bulk carrier’s sinking on Lake Superior.
The project explores one of the Great Lakes’ most enduring stories, offering viewers two distinct formats. It includes a half-hour broadcast episode that will air across the Midwest and an expanded, full one-hour documentary available exclusively on Discover Wisconsin’s YouTube and social channels.
Regan Ernst, producer for Discover Mediaworks, highlighted the significance of the endeavor. “This project is one of the most meaningful and fascinating documentaries we’ve ever produced,” Ernst said. “The Edmund Fitzgerald’s story still resonates deeply with so many people, and through this shortened episode and full-length documentary, we’re able to uncover both the human emotion and the enduring mystery behind it.”
The official trailer is now accessible on Discover Wisconsin’s YouTube channel and their various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and X.
The broadcast premiere of the half-hour episode is scheduled for November 10 at 6:30 p.m. The full one-hour documentary will debut immediately after, premiering at 8:00 p.m. on November 10 across Discover Wisconsin’s digital platforms. Encore airings of the half-hour episode are slated for November 15 and 16.
This special presentation was made possible through a collaboration with several partners, including Enbridge, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the Wisconsin Counties Association, the Public Finance Authority Foundation and Badger Talks.
