Levitt Amp Concert Series: Boulevards

THURSDAY 7/21 | PFIFFNER PARK, STEVENS POINT

Jamil Rashad, aka Boulevards, is the embodiment of funk. From an early age, Jamil’s father, an R&B Radio DJ, exposed him to jazz, blues, and R&B. This pushed him to get involved in music early on in his youth. Taking queues from pioneers such as Prince, Rick James, and Earth Wind & Fire, Boulevards seamlessly delivers cheeky, party-themed jams that range from raw and risqué to soulful. His latest album, Electric Cowboy: Born in Carolina Mud, jubilantly mixes soul, country, jazz, hip-hop, indie rock, and every other style of music played in the Tarheel State, but the dominant sound is pure funk. Goatapalooza

WEDNESDAY 7/27 | BARKER-STEWART ISLAND, WAUSAU

Goats have returned for a second year to Barket-Stewart Island to help graze and control invasive plant species in the area. The Wausau and Marathon County Parks Department is celebrating the goats with Goatapalooza! This goat-themed celebration includes a small scavenger hunt for invasive species, goat cheese sampling, and other goat activities. Latin Night

FRIDAY 7/22 |WHITEWATER MUSIC HALL, WAUSAU

Get your latin on this weekend! Wausau Bachata and Whitewater Music Hall are co-hosting a bachata lesson for beginners, with a few variations for those more advanced dancers. No partner is necessary as participants will be rotated frequently so everyone technically has a partner–or you can dance solo if you prefer. After the hour-long lesson, you’ll play dancing games and try out your new skill when the floor is opened up for social dancing. Homecoming: City of Wausau 150^th Anniversary Celebration

SATURDAY 7/23 | MARATHON PARK, WAUSAU

2022 marks the 150th anniversary of Wausau becoming a city! Come celebrate the milestone at this day-long event for the entire family. At 11 am enjoy a Parade Thru Time travelling down Third Ave. to Marathon Park. At Marathon Park there will be tons of activities for all ages such as free train rides, fun at the Little Red Schoolhouse, a history of local businesses in the Exhibition Building, vehicles from the fire, police and public works departments, live music, food stands, a beer tent and much more. Channeling the rowdy feels of a small-town party, this genre-bending band celebrates the fusion of roots and rock with a refreshing, gutsy, Americana sound with a dash of zydeco. Based in Oshkosh, this quartet is loaded with energy and features a mountain of instruments, such as guitar, saxophone, percussion, flute, button accordion, piano, sousaphone, drums, bass, ukulele and more. According to The Wisconsin Blues Society, “This group cooks and swings with some of the best Zydeco-influenced groups I’ve seen anywhere in the country.” Concerts play rain or shine, though an indoor location might be found in severe weather. Moon Dance Music Festival

Dance under the stars this weekend during one of the biggest bluegrass fests in the area. You’ll hear Midwest bluegrass, folk and Americana acts perform all weekend long on two stages for three nights of high-energy, toe-tapping fun with camping, vendors, food and more. $140 three-day pass; Single day tickets: $30 Thursday; $75 Friday or Saturday; free ages 12 and under.
