Governor Tony Evers visited Wausau on Monday morning as part of a statewide tour following the signing of the 2025-27 Biennial Budget.
During his visit, Evers toured the Neighbors’ Place, a non-profit food pantry and diaper and hygiene bank located at the Community Partners Campus, to learn about local initiatives designed to combat food insecurity and to provide services to people in need.
The latest budget provides $10 million to the Wisconsin Food Security Initiative, an ongoing effort by Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection designed to combat food insecurity across the state by connecting hunger relief organizations with Wisconsin-based producers and processors in search of a market for their products, according to the DATCP’s website.
