Finding What We’re Planted Here to Give

Posted

I’ve been sitting with a question that won’t let me go: What have I been planted on this earth for?

It’s the kind of question that arrives quietly at first, then grows more insistent. The kind that makes you pause mid-sentence when you’re writing, or catches you staring out the window longer than you intended. I find myself thinking not just about what I want to accomplish, but about what I’m meant to give—to you, to this community we’ve built together, to the world that seems to need so much right now.

Maybe you’ve felt this too. That sense that there’s something specific you’re here to offer, something that’s uniquely yours to give. Not the grand, world-changing gestures we sometimes imagine, but the particular way you see things, the specific comfort you bring, the questions only you think to ask.

I look at what flows between us in these conversations—the ideas that spark, the moments of recognition, the quiet companionship in uncertainty—and I wonder if purpose isn’t something we discover so much as something we’re already living. Perhaps it’s less about finding our calling and more about noticing what’s already calling through us.

What I’m learning is that the things we’re drawn to create, the people we naturally want to serve, the problems that won’t let us sleep—these aren’t accidents. They’re breadcrumbs leading us toward what we’re here to give. The trick is paying attention to what makes us feel most alive, most useful, most like ourselves.

So I’m curious: What’s been trying to emerge through you lately? What conversations do you find yourself having again and again? What do people thank you for that you almost don’t notice you’re doing?

Maybe our purpose isn’t a destination we arrive at, but a direction we keep walking toward, one genuine offering at a time.
