Seven things to do around Wausau this week

  1. Rubber Duck Regatta
    Sunday 7/20 | Whitewater Park, Wausau

    The Children’s Imaginarium has announced the return of last year's Rubber Duck Regatta. The rubber duck launch includes one thousand rubber ducks that will race down the Wisconsin River, each duck representing a raffle entry and the chance to win cash prizes. Sales are open to buy a duck for $20 until Saturday, July 19. Along with the race will be family-friendly activities. The event starts at 1 p.m., with the duck race beginning at 2:15.

  2. Graff Mercantile’s July Outdoor Market
    Saturday 7/19 | Graff Mercantile, Wausau

    Spend some time at Graff Mercantile’s July Outdoor Market this Saturday. It will have 25+ vendors along with a food truck, coffee trailer, boutique trailer and live music by Brady James. 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  3. Wausau Night Market
    Thursday 7/17 | Third St., Wausau

    The Wausau Night Market is back! It will be an evening filled with live music and nearly 75 local vendors. Third Street in downtown Wausau will be closed for a food truck takeover of an entire block. 5–9 p.m.

  4. Environmental Portraiture Workshop
    Saturday 7/19 | Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau

    Want to learn the basics of composing and creating portrait photographs? The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum has the event for you! Join Pao Houa Her in experimenting with different techniques with a camera or smartphone. The workshop is designed for teens and adults. No photography experience required. $50 for Museum members, $65 for non-members; includes materials and lunch. Register online or call 715-845-7010. 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  5. Film, Farm & Culture Fest of Wausau: Through Rocks and Clouds
    Friday 7/18 | Woodson History Center, Wausau

    NTC’s first showing of their Film, Farm & Culture Fest of Wausau will feature the film Through Rocks and Clouds. The film festival will be held on Fridays and Saturdays from July 18–August 9. 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and can be bought online at https://ntcfilm.booktix.com/dept/main/e/TRC.

  6. We Will Always Be Here Author Talk
    Saturday 7/19 | Woodson History Center, Wausau

    Join the Marathon County Historical Society for a discussion with Jenny Kalvaitis and Kristen Whitson, authors of We Will Always Be Here: A Guide to Exploring and Understanding the History of LGBTQ+ Activism in Wisconsin. The book draws from a collection of primary sources including diary entries, love letters, zines, advertisements and oral histories and features the stories of individuals across a range of spectrums and from all corners of the state. 2 p.m. Free.

  7. Peace Pie and Ice Cream Social Fundraiser
    Wednesday 7/23 | Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield

    Peace UCC is boasting a menu of BBQ sandwiches, pickles, chips and, most importantly, homemade pies and ice cream. For the kids, hot dogs will also be available. Peace UCC promises a great time of fellowship, with full tummies guaranteed.  4–6:30 p.m.
