Marathon County deputies make arrest following high-speed chase

Justin Allen Phillips

Marathon County deputies arrested the driver that led them on a high-speed chase between Mosinee and Wausau, authorities say.

Police arrested 21-year-old Justin Allen Phillips following the chase that occurred in the early morning hours of June 5.

According to police reports, police attempted to pull Phillips over at the intersection of Burma Road and Highway KK in the town of Mosinee as the car he was driving had been reported stolen to the Plover Police Department.

The suspect instead took off through the town of Mosinee onto Highway 51, traveling at a high rate of speed, police say. A deputy used a tire deflation device to slow Phillip down, then another deputy used an intervention technique to stop Phillips’ car.

Police transported Phillips to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police say, then transported him to Marathon County Jail.

Phillips is currently held in jail on a $1,000 cash bond from failing to appear in court for a case filed in 2022, according to jail records.
