Wausau’s Night Market had its strongest turnout yet at its first market of the year last Thursday, according to organizers.
“Wausau’s Night Market continues to grow, and this latest event exceeded all expectations,” Wausau River District Executive Director Callie Wulk told City Pages. “We welcomed over 2k attendees and over 65 vendors, making it our largest and most successful Night Market to date.”
Multiple vendors sold out of their wares, according to Wulk, and small businesses reported a “large increase” in sales and foot traffic.
“That kind of economic impact is exactly what we hope for when we plan events like this,” said Wulk.
June 19’s night market was the first of three planned for over the summer. The next market is planned for Thursday, July 17, and the third and final market will be held on August 21.
The Wausau Night Market is organized by the Wausau River District, a nonprofit organization whose mission includes “fostering a vibrant, thriving downtown where businesses can flourish and our community can connect.”
The Wausau Night Market is held on Third St. on the third Thursday of every month from June–August. Each market runs from 5–9 p.m. and features wares by local makers and farmers, live music, sidewalk dining and extended hours from area businesses.
