Following the resignation of long-time Wausau School Board member Jane Rusch, the board has begun the search for a replacement.
In a press release about Rusch’s resignation, the Wausau School District thanked Rusch for her commitment to the board.
“She served as a board member for 16 years and during that time, advocated for students, staff and families,” read the press release. “We wish Jane nothing but the best.”
The decision to resign came in response to life circumstances and was one of the most difficult decisions of her life, Rusch said.
“I have absolutely loved every minute I have served on the board. Even the tough moments,” said Rusch.
Following Rusch’s resignation, the school district and school board have opened applications for someone to fill her vacant seat.
Each applicant must submit biographical data, a statement of qualifications and a statement of interest or special interest.
More details on the application process will be provided at the school board’s Sept. 8 meeting.
The board expects to formally appoint their chosen candidate on Oct. 13.
Applications can be submitted to the Longfellow Administration Center located at 415 Seymour St. through Sept. 22. They can also be submitted to WSD Deputy Clerk Cassie Peck, who can be reached by phone at 715-261-0500 or by email at cpeck@wausauschools.org.
