T. Wall to start leasing process for Foundry project

Developers have started a waitlist for the first mall redevelopment project, though it’s not slated to open for nearly a year. 

Work is currently underway on the Foundry on Third project, the first development to start up in the former Wausau Center mall area. The mall was demolished in 2021, and after a long battle with city leaders that grew contentious at times, the project kicked off construction earlier this year. 

The Foundry on Third building will have 150 units plus some commercial space. T. Wall Enterprises, which is building the Foundry on Third project, has detailed a second, similar building but nothing has been announced yet. The company will likely seek tax increment finance incentives for that project as it did for the first.

The Foundry project is the first of what Wausau Opportunity Zone, the general developer of the mall site, hopes will be more buildings. T. Wall Enterprises has already shared plans for a second, similar building and WOZ hopes to develop more of the site in time.
