The Family That Stands With Us

Posted

Dear Reader,

This Thanksgiving, I want to express a profound thanks to family—those who are always with you when it matters most. Whenever the chips are down, someone or many from the family come to your aid. It could be sickness that strikes unexpectedly. You could be dropped by someone you loved.

You could be struggling in school. You could be wrestling with depression. You’ve lost your job for reasons beyond your control.

It just goes to show that we need each other—somewhere, somehow, at some time or another. For those around us, as we gather to celebrate life and all the joys and struggles inherent in it, we need to show tangible ways of expressing our gratitude. So find some practical help, good advice, or meaningful support that you can give to those you see in your family this Thanksgiving.

And if, by chance, you don’t have much of a family anymore for whatever reason, look around and see how you can start building one up again. Family isn’t always about blood—it’s about the people who show up when you need them most.

Happy Thanksgiving,

PATRICK J. WOOD, Publisher, Author of “Reflections” a new book, Amazon, Publisher's Letter, Thanksgiving, family
