Drivers in the Wausau area can expect to see State Patrol troopers riding along with semitruck and bus drivers this Friday, July 18.
As part of an initiative called Troopers in Trucks, troopers will use the higher vantage point offered by buses and trucks to spot dangerous driving behaviors, such as distracted driving, speeding, following too closely and seatbelt violations.
“This initiative has been incredibly effective in past years,” said Dan Johnson, the president of Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association, the State Patrol’s partner for the initiative.
Troopers in Trucks is part of Operation Safe Driver Week, an awareness campaign intended to enforce safe driving practices nationwide.
