The Wausau Academy of Dance donated $17,500 to The Women’s Community at the end of 2025. The funds were raised during their Christmas-themed show, “Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” held at the Venninga Theater Dec. 6-7. A silent auction, 50/50 raffle, donations and sales all contributed to the total amount.
“We are grateful for the amount of local businesses that donate basket items each year for the auction, as well as the patrons who graciously bid,” owner Bekki Bauer said.
The show’s cast of over 100 kids is composed of dancers ages four to 18. The storyline follows a group of sisters through the celebratory month of December. It is written, choreographed and narrated by local talent and is typically a sold-out event.
Each year, the studio picks a local charity that directly benefits children in our area to raise and contribute funds to. Since the Christmas show began 15 years ago, the dance studio has donated over $100,000 to local nonprofits. Other nonprofits the studio donated to include Children’s Miracle Network, Children’s Wisconsin, Ascension Foundation and Toys for Tots.
“Giving back to our community is one of the core values of our organization,” Bauer said. “It empowers our dancers to know they can make a positive impact on our community through dance.”
Wausau Academy of Dance, located in Rib Mountain, is the largest facility of its kind in the greater Wausau area. It offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, acro and more for children age two and up. This is their seventeenth year in business and they offer both recreational and competitive programs.
