The Wausau Fire Department recently took delivery of a new CPR device that is expected to save more lives.
Fire Department officials say the device, called the Zoll AutoPulse NXT, is an automated device that delivers consistent chest compression in the event of a cardiac event. The device has been shown to improve survival rates because of that consistency.
The Department received the devices because of a donation from the BA and Esther Greenheck Foundation and the Community Foundation of NorthCentral Wisconsin. Officials did not specify the amount received in order to purchase the devices.
"We are extremely grateful for the support of the B.A. and Esther Greenheck Foundation and the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin," says Jared Thompson, Wausau Fire EMS Division Chief. "Their generous grant assistance allows us to equip our paramedics with the most advanced tools available, ensuring we can deliver the best possible care when every second counts."
The devices will be equipped in all of the department’s emergency response vehicles.
