The Wausau Police Department this week busted up a huge shipment of meth after getting a tip in December.
Wausau Police, with the assistance of the Central Wisconsin Narcotics Task Force and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 31-year-old Tyler Briggs of Wausau outside of a business on Thomas Street Wednesday.
Police say in December had received a tip that Briggs would be bringing in a shipment of meth to Wausau. Police discovered 1.6 pounds of meth in a backpack Briggs had on him at the time of his arrest, police say.
Police are recommending charges of possession of meth, possession of meth with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges as of this posting have not yet been filed.
Briggs is facing disorderly conduct charges as a repeat offender filed in November. In 2019 he pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a firearm as a felon and theft. He is currently being held in Marathon County Jail awaiting his initial appearance, according to court records.
