Wausau West scores new hockey coach

Wausau West High School has announced through a press release the appointment of Travis Brown as the new head coach of the Warrior Hockey Program.

Brown is an alumnus, a former hockey player and a current Adapted Physical Education teacher in the Wausau School District. Brown has also served as an assistant coach for the Wausau West hockey team for the past 11 years.

“I could not be more proud that Travis Brown is the next Head Coach for the Warrior Hockey Program. His experience as an assistant for the past 11 years has prepared him for this new role,” said BJ Brandt, activities director at Wausau West. “He is a man of great character who will lead with passion to ensure his players develop into great young men on and off the ice.”

During his tenure as assistant, the Warriors claimed five Wisconsin Valley Conference Championships and made four WIAA State appearances, with one runner-up finish. Brown has also dedicated eight years as the head coach of the Wausau Wolfpack High School Lacrosse Team.

Throughout his coaching career, Brown has helped develop two NHL draft picks and numerous Division I and Division III hockey and lacrosse players, helping them to achieve their collegiate and professional aspirations.
