Work underway on central Wisconsin's first Chipotle

Work is underway on central Wisconsin's first Chipotle restaurant, according to the company building it. 

Lokre Companies, a Wausau-based real estate firm, announced Tuesday that work has begun on the restaurant at 225407 Rib Mountain Drive. The location is across the street from Starbucks and Texas Roadhouse in the village. 

The location, which is expected to open this fall, is the first in the region, according to a press release from the company. 

Chipotle currently has 30 locations in Wisconsin exclusively in the southern and eastern parts of the state. The closest locations currently are in the Fox Valley area.
