Bridge Street Mission cuts ribbon on Outreach Center

Posted

Christian nonprofit Bridge Street Mission celebrated the opening of its expanded Outreach Center on Thursday.

The expansion includes a newly renovated space designed to welcome Wausau’s unhoused population and others experiencing hunger or loneliness.

At press time, five graduates of Bridge Street Mission’s Men’s Recovery Center were also expected to have received diplomas at the ceremony.

The new Outreach Center, located at 325 N First Ave., opened with temporary operating hours earlier this month. At present, Bridge Street Mission is open Mon. – Fri. between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with free community lunch served at noon.

Bridge Street Mission provides support to individuals struggling with homelessness, hunger, addictions and sustaining stable lives “through Christ-centered services and compassionate support,” according to their website. Current programming includes an Outreach Center that serves as a daytime drop-in center with a noon meal, and a residential Men’s Recovery Center. Plans are underway to add residential programming for women through a Women’s Recovery Center renovation.
