Emily’s Path, Inc. today announced a $10,000 contribution that has helped bring the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) program to an operational stage in Marathon County. This significant gift, combined with collaborative work from local schools, nonprofits and volunteers, means that the newly formed DPIL of Marathon County will soon begin registering children to receive free books.
The Imagination Library mails a high-quality, age-appropriate book each month to every registered child from birth until they start school. The goal is to promote early childhood literacy by building home libraries and encouraging reading. The program is financed through a partnership between the national DPIL organization and local community partners who cover the per-child cost of the books and postage.
Dale Eaton, co-founder and president of Emily’s Path, Inc., expressed the organization’s satisfaction with the impact of the donation.
“Books open doors for children,” Eaton said. “We are honored that Emily’s Path could contribute $10,000 to help launch this program in Marathon County. Getting the Imagination Library to the point where families can register and children will soon receive books in the mail is exactly the kind of lasting, joyful impact Emily’s Path was created to support.”
Families in Marathon County will soon be able to register children up to age five through the Imagination Library parent portal or via local DPIL of Marathon County organizer channels.
Emily’s Path, Inc. is a Wausau-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in memory of Emily Eaton. Its mission is to make children’s lives brighter by providing life-enhancing experiences that enable them to achieve, grow in confidence and have a better outlook on life.
