Middle school teacher arrested on drug charges

A Wausau middle school teacher is on leave after police say they discovered cocaine in his car.

Nevan Larson, 23, of Stevens Point is facing charges of possession of cocaine after police say they found the substance in his car in the school parking lot Thursday.

According to police reports, the school resource officer at John Muir Middle School received a tip that Larson had cocaine in his car, which he left parked at the school. Police brought in a drug dog which alerted its handler that there were drugs in the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle and found roughly one gram of cocaine in the car, police reports say.

Larson was arrested and taken to Marathon County Jail.

Marathon County Circuit Court Judge Scott Corbett imposed a $2,500 signature bond on Larson, and ordered him not to have any contact with anyone at the school or step on school grounds while the case is pending.
